“Where Do We Go From Here?”

In some Hawaiian music you will find the use of metaphors in the lyrics. The rocking of a ship on the ocean might really be speaking about a woman’s hips swaying. As you will hear, the style of this song has no other real connection to Hawaiian music except that its lyricist is part Hawaiian and the inspiration and concept was to write a “where’s-this-relationship-going” song using ocean and sailing metaphors.
Lyrics
A fine veneer, finished smooth as glass
No count of the winds that blewOut too far, droppin’ way too steep
We’re caught in the undertowWhere do we go from here?
A crimson sky, without a cloud
A ring running ’round the moonThe course was set, without a chart
Tomorrow is on it’s way…Where do we go from here?
Where do we go from here,
Where do we go from here?Does any journey really end?
Set course for an open seaThe fog will lift, the sun will shine
Soon the horizon fadesWhere do we go from here?
