“Wax on Silk”

In 2008 I attended a workshop on the technique of batiking on silk presented by the renowned batik artist, Betsy Sterling Benjamin (Betsy, now Kiranda -when ordained into the Western Buddhist Order). Thayne was in the studio working on some new music when I returned from the workshop – I got on the mike and the song was developed that same evening.
Lyrics
From a drop of wax on silk,
Came a picture of her world
Too many days, too many nights
In a place she knew too well.
In her room of colors
She spun her lifeA drop of wax on silk
Painted the robe that she would wear
On her shoulders no more pain
Faded memories she would bear.Little treasures every one,
Little pieces of her heart
Where she’d find an open door
Became the next best place to start.
In her room of colors
She spun her lifeWith each drop of wax on silk
She could surrender to it all.
She floated freely now,
There was nowhere left to fall
In her room of colors
She spun her lifeWith each drop of wax on silk
came a story of her life
Each drop of wax on silk
became the story of her life
In her room of colors
She spun her lifeEach drop of wax on silk
became the story of her life
A drop of wax on silk
became the story of her life,
became the story of her life,
became the story of her life
