Watercolor Dreams song lyrics

“Soft Time”

Listen:

I make it a habit of keeping a notebook close at hand at all times just in case I hear some irresistible combination of words. This was the case when watching another Oprah show, thank you Oprah! Elizabeth Lesser, author of the wonderful book “Broken Open” was one of the guests. Elizabeth used the phrase, “embracing the dark” in describing the philosophy behind the book. This was the jumping off point for “Soft Time” and once again, the magical view outside of our living room window inspired many of the visuals sprinkled throughout the song.

Lyrics

I got hung up on the reasons
I got caught up in the why
It’s the turning of the seasons
It’s the color of the sky

I got lost in all the wanting,
for the answers to appear
It was there inside the quiet,
It was there and all quite clear

Embrace the dark, to know the light
Break open in, these broken times
Rest comes easy, I’ll be there
In the stillness of soft time.

It’s in the moment when a leaf falls
It’s in the space between dark and light
It’s in the time it takes to catch your breath
When your back’s against it all

Embrace the dark, to know the light
Break open in, these broken times
Rest comes easy, I’ll be there
In the stillness of soft time.

The morning comes without a pause
The day will follow through
Tomorrow comes with all you need
Your heart knows what to do

Embrace the dark, to know the light
Break open in, these broken times
Rest comes easy, I’ll be there
In the stillness of soft time.
